----------------------------------------------------
Andrew
joined ExxonMobil’s affiliate Esso Australia in 1999 having graduated from the
University of Melbourne with an Honours degree in Geology. His first job was
as a Production Geologist working the Central Fields in the Gippsland Basin.
Shortly after starting, Andrew was transferred to an active drilling campaign
in one of the largest fields in the Gippsland Basin. Currently, he is an
Exploration Geologist in the Papua New Guinea Subsurface Team based at
Southbank..
“In 2001, I was given the opportunity to transfer
to our Exploration Headquarters in Houston, Texas. Over a four year period I
worked on a number of different projects including frontier exploration in
countries such as Madagascar, Senegal and Equatorial Guinea. The skills and
networks developed in Houston have become an invaluable part of the day-to-day
aspects of being an exploration geologist regardless of geographical location
or area of focus”.
"ExxonMobil have provided a
fantastic start to my career. Everyday I work with engineers and other
geoscientists who are more than willing to share their experiences and who
equally value my contributions. The level of training offered is second to
none and the vastness of such a truly global organisation provides for some
amazing professional development opportunities, be it here in Melbourne or
around the world”.
