Glyn joined ExxonMobil Australia in February 2007 after completing a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geophysics at the University of Sydney. His first assignment is working as a production geologist on drilling & development opportunities in the Gippsland Basin. “One of the best things about being a graduate with ExxonMobil is that from Day 1 you are working on active projects with your input and work having a direct effect on the decisions that are made. At first this was a little daunting but the training and support you receive is outstanding, allowing you to learn very quickly. The formal training schools are top notch, and the people you work with have such a high level of expertise that any questions you have can be answered by simply asking those around you. You’ll find that you’re not overwhelmed for long.” “One of the reasons I joined ExxonMobil was for the variety of work, and already I have had the chance to complete a range of tasks in the course of my work. As a production geologist I’ve carried out tasks ranging from seismic interpretation, stratigraphic correlation, uncertainty and volumetric analyses right through to working with engineers on well location planning and economics. The variety means that you are always doing something different and learning about many different aspects of the industry, so there’s never a dull moment.”
