Travys is a qualified Electrician and Electrical Engineer, having completed his degree at the University of Queensland in Brisbane in 2005. He completed vacation work with ExxonMobil in the summer of 2004/2005 and commenced employment as a graduate in 2006. His role since starting has been as an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer in the Maintenance and Reliability Group.
"Moving from Brisbane to Melbourne was made easy as ExxonMobil provided tremendous support to aid in relocating my partner and I by helping us find a place to live and shifting all our belongings. I was extremely excited at the prospect of starting a career with the leading oil and gas company in the world. My previous experience had been in the coal mining industry and working in a different environment seemed an exciting challenge.”
“My role as an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is based in Melbourne. I regularly travel to either of the two onshore plants or to several offshore platforms. I provide technical support to all sites with any electrical or instrumentation issues and manage the company's electrical integrity program. Working in this role provides great satisfaction as I get to support, help and interact with personnel of all positions within the company, including Management in head office and Operations and Maintenance at site”
“There are several reasons why I wanted to work at ExxonMobil, including possible overseas opportunities in the future, the extensive amount of training offered and the high responsibility you are given from the beginning. I have enjoyed the chance to travel to the ExxonMobil training centre in Houston, USA, for training in my second year and I am excited at what opportunities are ahead for me within the company.”
