----------------------------------------------------
Amy joined ExxonMobil in July 2007 having graduated with degrees in Materials Engineering and Law. In 2006/2007, Amy completed the vacation work program with ExxonMobil in the Inspection Engineering Group. Her first role as a graduate was in the Gas and Power Marketing Division as a Supply Planner. "Initially, it seemed like quite a daunting task, starting a role in the Gas and Power Marketing Division with a Materials Engineering Degree. However, I quickly realised that it was my skills in problem solving, teamwork and leadership rather than specific engineering knowledge that was required in my job!" My role is unique in the company, as I am the primary gas operational contact for commercial matters. This ranges from liaison with inter company departments as well as external parties like industry regulators, customers and joint venture partners. Additionally I also provide analytical support for our commercial negotiations including new contracts and revisions to existing strategies. As part of my current role, I have had extensive support and training, such as Contracting courses in Singapore, Power Marketing courses in Bangkok and Economics courses in Houston. This, combined with the extensive knowledge base in my group, has allowed me to quickly and effectively build my skills in an area that I hadn't studied at University. One of the most exciting things I find about ExxonMobil is the global opportunities on offer. The majority of people in Gas and Power Marketing have worked in a variety of roles across the globe, and I look forward to the opportunity to do the same.”
