The Development Company manages major upstream development projects and drilling activities on behalf of ExxonMobil affiliates around the world. The Development Company is responsible for the planning and execution of oil and gas resource developments.

In the Melbourne office, Development provides geoscience and drilling support for field developments in Bass Strait, Papua New Guinea and the North West Shelf, utilising advanced technologies. It ensures the proper application of best practices and the latest technologies in field/reservoir mapping, modeling and resource distribution, and provides project management for the execution of all exploration, development and production drilling projects.

Development provides opportunities for geoscientists to work with subsurface engineers in the optimisation of the development of discovered hydrocarbon resources.
