Esso Australia is one of Australia's largest oil and gas producers. Since 1969 we have operated the Bass Strait offshore oil and gas fields and associated production and processing facilities. Esso Australia's co-venturer in Bass Strait is BHP Billiton Petroleum. We produce a significant amount of Australia's crude oil requirements and supply natural gas to Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.

ExxonMobil Australia’s downstream business, trading as Mobil Oil Australia, was established in Melbourne in 1895, and is Australia’s oldest oil company. Mobil operates a refinery at Altona, in Melbourne and product distribution terminals in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.  We are a supplier of petroleum fuel to metropolitan resellers, distributors, aviation and large industrial customers.  Affiliated companies also supply lubricants, bitumen and chemical products.
