Since 1969, ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Australia has operated the Bass Strait
offshore oil and gas fields and associated production and processing
facilities. The Bass Strait fields continue to make a significant contribution
to Australia's crude oil requirements as well as supplying natural gas to
Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, South Australia and the Australian
Capital Territory.

ExxonMobil has been involved in exploration and production activities in Papua
New Guinea since the 1930s and holds an interest in about 2.1 million acres
containing several oil and gas discoveries. The company is a participant in
the only oil production project in the country and is a large equity holder in
the country's gas resources. ExxonMobil has been marketing petroleum fuels and
other refined products in Papua New Guinea since 1922 and today accounts for a
little more than 30 percent of the market.

ExxonMobil's downstream business, trading as Mobil Oil Australia, is
Australia's oldest oil company. Mobil operates a refinery at Altona, in
Melbourne. The company also operates and/or supplies a number of product
distribution terminals and bulk storage facilities, and a nationwide retail
network comprising approximately 850 sites.
