Day of Caring 2011
Lending a helping hand in our community
Working in association with United Way, the ExxonMobil Day of Caring brings employees from all parts of our operations together for a day's volunteering work at selected community facilities such as community centres and aged care hostels. ExxonMobil teams help to clean, paint, garden, catalogue and cook for those in need.
In 2011, around 250 employees and 21 community organisations
were involved in the program. The benefits and the difference that volunteers can make in our community are significant. As well as employees learning new skills, this project raises the profile of the volunteer role.
United Way, which helps to select the Day of Caring projects, is a global network of 4000 member organisations operating in 47 countries. In Australia, United Way has been operating for more than 50 years and it currently invests over $7 million in community development grants throughout the country and provides support for corporate community development programs.
