MELBOURNE, Australia – Mobil Oil Australia (Mobil), a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Australia, is investing in additional fuel storage infrastructure at its Melbourne terminal, supporting Australia’s fuel security and cementing the company’s role as a critical supplier of fuel for Victoria and the east coast.
- Esso Australia has announced that they have contracted the VALARIS 107, a heavy-duty modern jack-up rig, for decommissioning activities across their offshore operations.
- Expected to commence work in Q4 of 2024, the VALARIS 107 will be utilised to complete the plug and abandonment work of 26 wells across three platforms and five subsea locations in the Gippsland Basin.
- After completing a technical tender last year, Esso Australia will now move into the next stages of decommissioning by commencing a commercial tender process.
- The commercial tender process will see experienced heavy lift contractors bid to execute decommissioning activities for Esso Australia’s decommissioning project in Victoria’s Bass Strait.
- An innovative apprenticeship program developed by ExxonMobil Australia and WPC Group has been awarded the Workplace Development Award, earlier this week at the 2023 APPEA Conference.
- The award recognises the success of the program which, since its inception in 2018, has hired and trained 74 apprentices and trainees across ExxonMobil Australia’s worksites in Gippsland, Victoria.
- The Workplace Development Award was added to APPEA’s list of Excellence Awards this year, alongside the Community Development Award, and the pre-existing Environment Project Excellence Award and Safety Project Excellence Award, which showcase the oil and gas industry’s commitments to the communities in which they operate.

Esso Australia charters Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel to support decommissioning activities in Bass Strait
MELBOURNE, Australia – Esso Australia Pty Ltd (‘Esso Australia’, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Australia Pty Ltd and operator of the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture) announced today that it had entered into a multi-year agreement with DOF Subsea to charter a Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel to support decommissioning activities in Bass Strait.
MELBOURNE, Australia – Esso Australia Pty Ltd (‘Esso’, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Australia Pty Ltd) said the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture had entered an agreement with Air Liquide Australia to capture and reuse Carbon Dioxide (CO2) extracted from Gippsland gas.
