Fuels and lubricants
From the oil wells, crude oil reaches the refineries in Antwerp and Rotterdam via tankers and/or pipelines. There, the different fluids and gases in a barrel of oil are separated, thus creating the products that ExxonMobil brings to the market: butane and propane (LPG), naphtha or petrol, kerosene, gas oil, heating oil, diesel and heavier oil fractions such as fuel oil for sea vessels and bitumen (asphalt). Drivers are welcome at hundreds of Esso service stations to fill-up their tank and to buy or eat something in the shop. The modern lube oil blending plant in Rotterdam manufactures a variety of products in different volumes. These grades are transported to the customer in barrels, trucks or barges.
