If you have just obtained a degree in economics, you will start your career at our Benelux headquarters in Breda or at the European headquarters in Brussels.

Economists start in a BAP position, which stands for Business Analysis and Planning. These BAP positions are available throughout the company, in the marketing, financial and logistics departments. In this position we will primarily test your analytical abilities, which are especially important for a company like ExxonMobil. On top of your analytical work you also work on projects.

For example:

As a cost analyst, you are responsible for the cost control of a given department. You must look for reasons for anomalies and trends; in essence, you are looking for the truth behind the numbers. The advantage of such a position is that you become familiar with the company and your co-workers in a very short period of time.

You will work in this initial position for one to three years. The duration depends on the complexity of the position and the way you fulfill your job.

In your next position you may be involved in a strategic study with problem analysis, mapping of the problem, solution proposal, weighing of the advantages and disadvantages of the different options, making a recommendation and perhaps even implementing the solution. This position will also last for approximately one to three years.
