Safety, Health & the Environment

ExxonMobil has developed a corporate Safety Health and Environment policy, which reflects management's commitment to providing a safe, healthy and environmentally sound work environment for all employees and the surrounding community. As a member of the communities in which we operate, we truly care about our neighbours and the environment in which we work and live.

The Highlights of our Process

OPP is a flexible material derived from melting and orienting (stretching) a polymer called polypropylene. The orientation of polypropylene improves its physical properties, such as water vapor barrier, stiffness, dimensional stability, and optics. Once oriented these physical properties are further enhanced through the application of clear coatings or vaporized aluminum. The final step in the manufacture of OPP is to slit the film to customer specifications.

Operations within ExxonMobil’s Chemical Films Business include:
  • Seven affiliated production plants worldwide in Canada (Belleville), the U.S. (Georgia, Connecticut, Oklahoma), Belgium, Italy, and the Netherlands
  • Over 2,300 valued employees
  • Production of 230,000 tons of OPP annually
