The Polymers business is organized into four areas: polyolefins, butyl polymers, ethylene elastomers and adhesive polymers.

Polyolefins

Polyolefins products, which include polyethylene and polypropylene, are derived from olefins and represent the largest component of the worldwide plastics industry. They offer versatility, processability and performance in a wide range of applications.

ExxonMobil Chemical is the leading global supplier of polyethylene. We have the largest polyethylene product portfolio in the industry for use in applications such as film for packaging, bags and sacks, and consumer goods like beverage containers.

We are a key supplier of polypropylene, one of the world's fastest-growing plastics. In polypropylene, we offer a variety of products to customers and manufacture both durable and nondurable goods. Mytex, a joint venture, supplies polypropylene compounds to the automotive industry.

We understand that supply reliability is important to our customers. In 2000, three major new polyethylene plants — two in Saudi Arabia and one in Singapore — are adding to our already strong supply position. And we will nearly double our polypropylene capacity with new plants coming on stream in Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
