united appeals and workplace giving
ExxonMobil, together with its current and retired employees, donated more than $21.6 million through 2006 workplace giving campaigns
in the United States, Canada, and other countries. In addition to United Way corporate gifts in the United States totaling $4.9 million, employees and retirees pledged more than $12.0 million to the United Way. In Fairfax, Virginia, ExxonMobil and its employees donated more than $2.0 million to more than 400 charitable organizations through our Employee’s Favorite Charity Campaign. Canadian employees and retirees pledged more than $1.5 million to the United Way, bringing the total corporate and employee donations in Canada to more than $2.5 million.
Our commitment to the United Way extends well beyond financial support. Many senior-level managers serve on boards and committees to help formulate strategies for successful programs, and, through ExxonMobil Foundation’s Volunteer Involvement Programs, employees and retirees give year-round support to United Way agencies as volunteers. Last year, United Way Day of Caring events were held in many company locations across the United States. In Houston, Texas, more than 2,300 employees, retirees and their families volunteered at 60 non-profit organizations; in Dallas, Texas, projects were completed at 15 different United Way agencies; and in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, more than 100 ExxonMobil employees participated in the United Way Day of Caring activities.
