Our focus areas

ExxonMobil has three focus areas designed to assist women to move to a higher economic level by:

  • Developing women entrepreneurs and business leaders. Among the key constraints that women face is the lack of opportunities to improve their business and management skills. Consequently, efforts to provide current and future women business leaders and entrepreneurs with business development opportunities are critically needed. We help create and promote leadership development, business skills training, mentoring programs and businesswomen’s networks to support female business leaders and entrepreneurs.
  • Creating an enabling environment for women’s economic participation. In many developing countries, women still face challenging cultural, legal, and practical obstacles in generating economic rewards for themselves and their families. We work with partners to enable women entrepreneurs to advocate for and advance laws and policies that allow them to participate fully in the economy.
  • Identifying and deploying technologies that accelerate women’s economic advancement. The identification and deployment of technologies holds the promise of addressing one of the major barriers to women’s productivity and effective participation in the economy. Our efforts include funding new strategic research, developing a global technology challenge to help find and nurture the most promising innovations and supporting efforts to enable closer collaboration among innovators, development experts and investors on ways to bring them to market more efficiently.
