The Hands-On

• Controller's
  The Controller's organization is responsible for providing cost-effective accounting, financial reporting and analysis, and internal controls and advisory services to ExxonMobil's operating companies around the world. Accounting & Finance majors have diverse, global opportunities to provide these services as part of the operating business teams.
  
  Initial positions provide developmental skills to prepare employees to handle increasingly complex assignments. These assignments may involve providing transactional accounting for operations support, preparing financial statements, preparing regulatory reports, and/or providing timely management information. Candidates are normally hired for starting positions in their home country (country where you have pre-existing long-term eligibility to work).  The principal U.S. starting location is Houston.  Positions may also be available in other countries where we do business.
  
  Demonstrated performance in initial assignments leads to increasing responsibilities and management opportunities across the Controller's function.

• Tax
  Initial assignments in Tax may include filing federal and state income, franchise, excise or severance tax returns for Exxon Mobil Corporation and affiliated companies, advising and issuing instructions to tax accounting offices, forecasting tax liabilities, paying tax declarations, conducting compliance research and planning and working with state and federal government auditors during audits of Exxon Mobil Corporation's federal and state tax returns.

• Tax Law
  Generally, newly hired tax lawyers are assigned to one of the Tax Departments. In Houston, TX, business units include Upstream Business Services (Exploration and Production Operations), Tax Law, Appeals and Litigation (federal audit and appeals), or Chemicals (Chemical Production Operations).  In Fairfax, VA, business units include Downstream Business Services (Refining, Marketing and Transportation Operations). Subsequent to the initial assignment, opportunities may exist for assignments with other divisional affiliate tax departments in several other U.S. locations and abroad.

• Treasurer's
  This is a small select group of about 100. Because of the Company's commitment to mentoring you will be working along side the best in the industry, creating and implementing financial strategies for ExxonMobil operations worldwide.
