KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 - ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. (EMEPMI) announced that with effect from May 1, 2009, Encik Farid Jaafar has been appointed its new Public Affairs Manager.
He succeeds Encik Mokhtar Daud who has retired after more than 29 years of company service. Farid started his career with ExxonMobil in 1982 as a Drilling Engineer. In 1994, he transferred to the Drilling Organisation of Exxon Company International in Houston, which led to foreign assignments in Chad, Egypt and Australia in support of the Company's drilling activities. He also provided engineering support for deepwater programmes in the Gulf of Mexico, United States. In 1997, Farid returned to Malaysia to assume the position of Drilling Engineering Manager and transferred to Upstream Procurement in 2000. He subsequently assumed the position of Area Procurement Manager in 2001. Through his various assignments, he has acquired more than 25 years of experience in upstream technical business and supply chain activities. Farid holds an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from City University, London and is an old boy of St. John's Institution.
