PETALING JAYA, April 2 – To celebrate and introduce the new upgraded ‘Esso’ service stations with ‘On the Run’ convenience stores in the Klang Valley, Esso Malaysia Berhad and ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd today officially launched their Customer Appreciation Day celebrations where special promotion offers and exciting activities await customers at several newly refurbished service stations where these carnivals are held.

To date, the carnival has been held at 32 upgraded ‘Esso’ service stations within the Klang Valley during the past four consecutive weekends and will continue to be held at 22 other service stations every Saturday from 10am to 2pm until 17 April 2010.

To mark the celebration, Esso Malaysia Berhad and ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd also:

• Reintroduced its popular "Red Hot Special" promotion where Smiles members can redeem daily essential items at a discounted price using their Smiles loyalty points. 
• Donated cash, electrical appliances, daily essential items, and 476,000 Smiles Points to six charity homes.  In conjunction with the promotion, each home also received a range of Nestle products - courtesy of Nestle Malaysia Berhad.

Speaking at the launch held at the Esso Persiaran Bandar Utama service station, Esso Malaysia Berhad Retail Business Director Puan Faridah Ali said the upgrading and rebranding programme and Customer Appreciation Day celebrations marked an exciting time for its ‘new’ Esso service stations. "We want to invite our customers and customers-to-be to experience a new fuelling, shopping and dining experience," she said.

During these carnivals, service station dealers will be organising several activities such as special promotional offers on products, colouring contests, food sampling, instant gift redemptions and other exciting activities. Customers can also contribute to an ongoing charity drive programme where for every purchase of selected goods from the ‘On the Run’ mart, the service station dealers will donate 20 sen to charity.

"At the end of the campaign, we will match the amount raised before presenting them to more charity homes. To date, over RM20,000 has been raised since the Customer Appreciation Day celebrations kicked off on March 6 which were donated to the six homes today," said Faridah.  

On the ‘Red Hot Special’ promotion, Faridah said it was  reintroduced this year due to the public’s overwhelming response and request when the campaign was first introduced last year.

Under the promotion, Smiles members will be able to redeem selected items at special rates, such as a 500g of Milo beverage for only 700 Smiles Points and 100g of Nescafe Classic beverage for 850 Smiles Points.  This represents savings of about 20 percent off the normal retail price. The promotion ends on April 30 this year.

Non-members can register by filling up an application form available at all Esso and Mobil service stations and then submitting the completed forms at the counter or via fax to the Smiles Customer Service Centre at 03-77286225.

The Smiles Driver Rewards Card is a free loyalty programme card accepted at about 560 Esso and Mobil service stations in Malaysia that enables customers to earn points from both Esso and Mobil service stations. Smiles Points will not expire as long as customers earn points at least once per year.
