KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 -- ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. (EMEPMI) today presented awards to its employees and contractors in recognition of their safety excellence during 2009. The recipients received their awards from Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr. S. Subramaniam at a luncheon event. Also present were ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia Chairman Hugh Thompson and Department of Occupational Safety and Health Director-General Dato' Johari Basri. "A safe and healthy workforce is a necessary foundation for economic growth and critical to achieving ExxonMobil's business success wherever we operate. Our commitment to safety, health and environmental excellence is embedded into our business, and is part of our activities and operations 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We conduct every work activity with the goal of zero incidents, in line with our safety vision of 'Nobody Gets Hurt'," said Thompson. "Today's awards are given to recognise employees' and contractors' efforts in maintaining ExxonMobil's high safety and quality standards. Through our shared dedication and focus on safety, I am convinced that we will continue to achieve injury free worksites," Thompson added. Four worksites and work group - Tapis D/Pump platform, Irong Barat A platform, Kemaman Supply Base and the Centralised Maintenance Group - received the Hurt Free Award for completing 2009 without any injuries to their respective workforce, inclusive of both employees and contractors. Twelve employees and contractor personnel were given the Chairman's Safety Award for their leadership and contributions towards safety related performance. A total of 48 contractor companies were recognised for their safety achievements. Three contractors - Barmada McDermott Sdn Bhd, Dimension Bid (M) Sdn Bhd and Jasa Merin (M) Sdn Bhd - received the Gold Award for completing between 100,000 to 300,000 workhours without any injuries during 2009. These contractors were involved in offshore installation, well intervention services, and supply vessel logisitics for EMEPMI's offshore facilities. Another 45 contractor companies who completed below 100,000 workhours of injury free operations received Recognition Awards.
