Baton Rouge area - community outreach

health, civic and arts
We believe that good health is a springboard to opportunity, achievement and development. At ExxonMobil, our health support initiatives fall into several categories: the fight against global health pandemics and support for medical centers/hospitals, health education and health-care delivery, health and the environment, and health-related research. ExxonMobil Baton Rouge has funded the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center's mobile cancer screening clinic to be used in our near neighborhoods.

We are an enthusiastic supporter of the Capital Area United Way (CAUW). Our employees serve on the boards of many United Way agencies, such as the Battered Women’s Shelter, Food Bank and Boys and Girls Club.  In 2006, the total ExxonMobil employee, annuitant, and corporate contributions from the Baton Rouge Area reached $1.4 million, or 12 percent of the entire Capital Area United Way campaign. ExxonMobil corporate contributions to CAUW increased to address Hurricane Katrina needs.

We provide direct support to nonprofit organizations, such as Junior Achievement, Urban Restoration Enhancement Corp., New Hope Community Development Corp. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge, Cenikor and Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers, Inc.

We contribute to environmental organizations, including Baton Rouge Green, the Recycling Office of East Baton Rouge Parish and Baton Rouge Earth Day. We’ve also worked to preserve our environment through programs like Grand Isle Migratory Bird Reserve and Bluebonnet Swamp. Thanks to the partnership between ExxonMobil and Earth 911, consumers can learn more about how to properly dispose of used motor oil and gain information about other recycling programs.

ExxonMobil recognizes the important role the arts play around the world in enriching, inspiring, and educating audiences with diverse backgrounds. ExxonMobil Baton Rouge supports the local arts with contributions to the Community Fund for the Arts, Louisiana Public Broadcasting and Playmakers. What’s more, our ExC!TE volunteers have dedicated hundreds of hours to support events such as the Greater Baton Rouge Arts Council Lollapollaza, Louisiana Public Broadcasting Art Auction and Louisiana Art and Science Museum gala.
