Baton Rouge Plastics Plant (BRPP)

history
The Plastics Plant opened in 1968 near Scotlandville and Zachary, north of Baton Rouge. In February 2004, a new metallocene ethylene elastomers (m-EE) manufacturing facility was commissioned, which doubled ExxonMobil's ethylene elastomers capacity.

BRPP today
The plant is staffed by approximately 270 employees and 135 contractors and produces more than 900 million pounds of products per year.

end products and their uses
We produce low-density polyethylene, which end products include plastic films, molding, adhesives, compounding and oil additives. Our (m-EE) manufacturing facility produces Vistalon®, EP(D)M, Exact®, plastomers and Vistamaxx™ Specialty Elastomers. Their end products include automotive hoses, belts, seals and bumpers, roofing sheet, oil viscosity modifiers and various film and non-woven products.

In the fall of 2006, ExxonMobil announced that it will locate a new polymers compounding facility in Baton Rouge. This project will provide substantial economic benefits for the community, including 55 permanent, full-time jobs and a six-month construction workforce of about 40.
