Job: Planning & Analysis, OBO fields
Background: MSc Finance, Norges Handelshøyskole (NHH)

In the spring of 2002, I was offered a job at ExxonMobil in Stavanger following a “Career Day”at NHH, Bergen. A career within an international company offering opportunities for varied jobs and tasks was tempting.

During my first five years I have tried various positions. In the Controllers Department, I worked with OBO (Operated by Others) fields, own operated fields, as well as financial reporting/analysis, and thus I got a good overview of the business. Since the beginning of 2006, I have worked with planning in the department for OBO fields. This is a position that offers cooperation with people of different backgrounds, like geologists/geophysicists, engineers and lawyers, in an environment promoting exchange of knowledge.

I have frequently used ExxonMobil’s offer of training/courses, and I have in addition to training with economy and IT systems gone through introductory courses in geology, production, gas and reservoir. It has been very interesting to get an insight into subjects that were not taught at NHH, and the learning curve has been steep. Generally, the company offers a very good support regarding building of competence and further education.

Through the Rec Club, I participate in indoor bandy and football, and I am the sports coordinator in the Rec Club board. This year I went on a trip with the football team to the Netherlands where our team participated in the ExxonMobil soccer championship. Theree we played on excellent grass fields, enjoying the nice atmosphere after the games.
