The total safety bonus of NOK 405.000 of 600 persons working offshore for ExxonMobil in Norway, both ExxonMobil employees, contractors and supply employees, has been granted to Rogalandshjelpen (Rogaland Relief Organization). Rogalandshjelpen is cooperating closely with the Norwegian Refugee Council (Flyktningehjelpen) on planning how to utilize the money. The grant will i.a. be used to build schools in the areas hit by the disaster in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
Exxon Mobil Corporation and many of its affiliates contributed with massive support of the countries and people in Southeast Asia just after they were hit by the enormous natural disaster. Exxon Mobil Corporation contributed $5 million (NOK 30 million) while its affiliates in Asia donated in-kind assistance, including air transportation for medical personnel and provision of much-needed supplies, to relief efforts in affected countries.
In the early relief phase ExxonMobil in Norway donated NOK 100.000 to the Red Cross. Furthermore, the company also supported the Red Cross through collection boxes placed at our gas stations.
ExxonMobil affiliates employ approximately 5,000 people in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and have oil and gas production and petroleum and petrochemical refining and distribution businesses in those countries.
