ExxonMobil’s ONS 2004 stand (stand 354, Hall C) is designed as a globe, inviting the visitor to "EXPLORE IT". Through interactive computer games, the visitors may challenge their knowledge about energy.
ExxonMobil donates its stand to the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology (NTM) in Oslo after this year's ONS show. This will be ExxonMobil’s third major contribution to the museum. The stand has a young profile.Attracting young talents to the oil industry is an important objective to ExxonMobil. Morever, the stand will hopefully become a major attraction of NTM, which has a lot of young people among its visitors.
Since 1999 ExxonMobil has had a close cooperation with the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology. The company has been a main contributor to the museum’s permanent petroleum exhibitions.
- We feel very strongly that we have an important mission to play in the Oslo-region to give the general public a much better hands-on feeling of what the oil industry is all about and the great strides in new technology we have in this industry since startup of the offshore activities, says Director Gunnar Nerheim at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology.
The ONS 2004 stand is designed as a globe, and it has been named "EXPLORE IT". In line with the ONS 2004 theme; ”Shaping the Energy Future”, we offer our visitors the opportunity to play with computers and design a nation's energy supply. We offer a choice of video films from all corners of the world. The visitors might also take part in our energy quiz competition by challenging a friend or colleague to a computer game.
With this year's ONS stand as an addition to the permanent exhibition in Oslo, the museum is able to offer a broad overview of the Norwegian oil and gas industry.
- I am very pleased that we yet again have managed to design an ONS stand that will be reused at the Norwegian Technical Museum, says Magne Hovda, Public Affairs Manager, ExxonMobil. - The educational design is interesting to all age groups and should be a welcome feature at the museum.
The ExxonMobil stands donated to the museum have all been carefully designed to cover separate main themes. The first stand given, was the stand from the ONS 1998 which focused on the theme: "Hunting for oil". It gave an introduction to geology and the Utsira High area in the North Sea which includes the ExxonMobil operated fields Balder, Ringhorne and Jotun. The ONS 2002 stand gave an introduction to drilling, reservoar engineering and subsea installations, including platform models and a Floating Production Ship (FPSO).
This year we invite our visitors to playing and interactive experiences on our exciting stand – ”EXPLORE IT”.
