In this year, the student camp’s project is the construction of Yuwawissawakorn Borpit 36 bridge at Baan Mae Kong Wa, Tambon Mae Lan, Amphoe Li, Lamphun, during the summer. The presentation ceremony was recently held at the conference room, the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University.
Established in 1969, the engineering student camp began its activity with an aim to apply engineering knowledge, particularly in constructing facilities i.e. bridges, spillways and school buildings, for public use. The students will learn to work as a team, spending a summer vacation working on the project. Besides, it is a good opportunity for the students to build a relationship with local people and learn about Thai village life and contribution for social development. Viewing rural development is fundamental for the national development, Esso has supported the camp activity for about 20 years.
In this year, engineering students joining the camp will build a reinforced concrete bridge sized 4.5 by 28 meters across Ma Haad creek in Lumphun. Villagers, mostly farmers, would benefit a great deal from the bridge for traveling and delivering crops to the market. Media Relations
