Geoscience Training and Development Opportunities EGDP - This is the ExxonMobil Graduate Development Programme or as we know it, EGDP. This programme is run in conjunction with The London Business School over two years, and is truly unique amongst graduate employers. The modular programme is designed to help equip graduates with a portfolio of fundamental business skills and includes the following areas: Strategy - understanding ExxonMobil's key business drivers and industry dynamics Marketing - how to understand, acquire and retain customers Finance - how to use financial information to make business decisions Operations - introducing an analytical approach to the development and implementation of operations strategy Technology - exploring the role of technology as both an enabler and driver of organisation transformation Development - giving individuals the tool kit with which to manage their own career These and other modules with your peer group will allow you to form a strong social and business network that will provide you with an opportunity for rapid development. From Day One .... In the first five days the Corporate Induction gives you an invaluable opportunity to meet the rest of your graduate intake, gain an overview of the organisation and an understanding of some of its key operations and philosophies. To develop further your problem-solving and teamworking skills, you will also participate in an outdoor activity course in the New Forest. Finally, you will have the opportunity to meet senior managers and discuss their specific roles and the future direction of the company. Your integration into the company is then handed over to your business line and a Site Induction team who will help ensure that your transition into working life is as smooth as possible, and that you also enjoy the social side of working at ExxonMobil. A Real Job From Day One - From the start you will be doing a real job and genuinely contributing to the business. Job moves tend not to occur within your first 12 months as we prefer to allow you to consolidate your experiences to be in a position to add value in your next assignment before moving on. We believe that on-the-job experiences still present the best learning opportunities, but this will be supported by practical and theoretical functional and technical skills training. Professional Qualifications - We actively encourage employees to study for chartered status where applicable: for example, CIMA and CIPD. We will support you both financially and through study leave. Some institutes also recognise the internal training that ExxonMobil offers, and 'fast-track' accreditation has been developed by some ExxonMobil functions in the UK with professional bodies like the IChemE, to enable you to get your professional qualifications as quickly as possible. Opportunities Abroad - With a presence in over 200 countries and territories, ExxonMobil is in a position to offer international travel opportunities. Mobility is a key competency we look for in all graduates as most will be expected to travel abroad for training or on business. International assignments, particularly to Houston are very common for Geoscientists. Continuous Development - Your formal training does not stop once you have completed the ExxonMobil Graduate Development Programme. Regular reviews and appraisals with your supervisor keep your continual growth on track, but we actively encourage you to take ownership of your own career by identifying personal development needs and opportunities in line with business needs. As such you will have an individually tailored development plan and a career which offers a continual learning process.
