Fife (2 December 2007) -- Christmas Day will be a much happier occasion for the women, children and young people supported by Dunfermline Women's Aid thanks to a donation from ExxonMobil Chemical Limited.
ExxonMobil Chemical Limited at the Fife Ethylene Plant recently donated £2,000 to the organisation, in lieu of sending a corporate Christmas card in 2007. It is hoped that this will be the first of many donations from local businesses that will ensure comfort and joy to vulnerable children and young people this Christmas and New Year.
At Christmas time many people look forward to sitting down to a nice meal with their family and friends but when you are in emergency refuge accommodation, away from supportive family and friends, experiencing financial constraints and coming to terms with the trauma of abuse, Christmas is just like any other day.
The ExxonMobil funding will be used to provide a small, meaningful, Christmas gift to the children and young people who are clients of the Dunfermline Women's Aid over the festive period.
Catherine Sneddon from Dunfermline Women's Aid said: “We are extremely grateful to ExxonMobil Chemical for this Christmas donation. It will make a significant difference to the Christmas of the many young people that we work with."
Anyone wishing to make a donation to Dunfermline Women's Aid or who would like more information on the services they provide should contact Dunfermline Women' s Aid on 01383 721189.
