Fawley (October 5, 2006) -- Children at Mulberry Road Pre-School in Marchwood
are enjoying exploring their new sensory garden built by staff members and
parent volunteers with support from fundraising activities and a grant from
Marchwood Parish Council.
A section of the garden has been
stocked with aromatic plants and flowers. The planting scheme for the sensory
bed was designed by committee members and staff at the pre-school, and plants
were purchased with a contribution of £450 from ExxonMobil at Fawley Refinery.
Samantha Haynes, vice-chairperson of the Pre-School, said: "This is not only a
wonderful area to play in but it will also be an integral learning resource
that will help the children to achieve their early years learning goals."
The sensory garden was opened by Carol Dunford of ExxonMobil at the
Pre-School's Open Day. She said: "The attractive garden is an asset to the
Pre-School and everyone has worked very hard to make it so pleasant for the
children to enjoy."
