SAGE is a dense phase 350km, 30" nominal bore pipeline running from the Beryl Area to the SAGE Terminal at St Fergus. It consists of three sub-pipes: - Beryl Pipe runs from the Beryl Riser Tower in UK block 9/13 in the northern North Sea to the Main Pipeline Wye in Block 16/1.
- Brae Pipe runs from the Brae cross-over assembly in UK block 16/3A in the northern North Sea to the Main Pipeline Wye in Block 16/1.
- Main Pipe runs from the Main Pipeline Wye in Block 16/1 to the SAGE Plant at St Fergus.
Gas exports started from Beryl area in 1992 and from the Scott and Brae areas in 1994.
The equity ownership in the SAGE sub-pipes are:

- Brae Group Participants: Marathon - 38%, BP- 27.7%, Talisman Energy - 14%, Kerr McGee - 8%, Nippon - 6.3%, Lundin Oil & Gas - 4%, ENI - 2%
ExxonMobil currently markets capacity in the Main and Beryl Pipelines and Marathon capacity in the Brae Pipeline.
The SAGE owners are seeking to modify their commercial arrangements to further facilitate divided rights marketing of capacity and expect to finalise such modifications and publish an update in March 2005.
The SAGE owners will internally circulate all requests for capacity.
Entry points exist at the Beryl Riser Tower, a subsea tee in block 9/17, and the Brae and Scott platforms.
