Safety earns a good night's sleep

Fife (1 March 2010) - The Contract Project Team at ExxonMobil Chemical Limited has made a donation of £1,200 to SNIP, Dunfermline, so that they can purchase a hospital-style bed for a local Dunfermline family.

The donation was raised as part of the company’s Safety Incentive Initiatives, awarded when staff work safely or come up with safety improvements. A donation of £500 from ExxonMobil was matched by Doosan Babcock (Managing Contractor), while support contractors Deborah Services Limited and MGM gave £100 each.

Inge Stewart, mother to Cerry (14) and Nicola (18), said: "This will go along way to assist in improving the quality of life for my daughters. They both suffer from fascio-scapular humeral dystrophy, resulting in them currently having great difficulty getting comfortable at night, so that they have a very poor quality of sleep.

“The hospital style bed, which is also height- and rake-adjustable, will allow the girls independence, improved sleep quality and enhance in so many ways their quality of life."

Doug Sharp, construction manager, said: "This charitable nomination was unanimously agreed by the workforce, and they have also agreed to continue to support this family via their safe working practices to allow the purchase of a further bed.

"I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all the team on their excellent safety performance to date and their ongoing focus on safety through the rest of the project to ensure Nobody Gets Hurt."
