Fairfax County, Virginia is a rapidly growing, exciting diverse urban county. As the most populous jurisdiction in both Virginia and the Washington metropolitan area, its population exceeds that of seven states. The median household income of Fairfax County is one of the highest in the nation and over half of its adult residents have four-year college degrees or more educational attainment. In addition, Fairfax County is home to an extensive commercial office market and is a major employment center that draws residents and visitors from around the country.

Once a rural area dotted with farms, Fairfax County today is a growing metropolis with a thriving technology industry. With its 300 parks, proximity to the nation's capital and a host of historic homes, Fairfax County offers visitors a unique experience. Fairfax County features both an extensive array of Revolutionary and Civil War landmarks, along with several popular contemporary attractions. Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts is a renowned national park for the performing arts. With the open-air Filene Center and the cozier Barns, Wolf Trap offers musical entertainment throughout the year. George Mason University's Center for the Arts and Patriot Center also host an array of arts, music and entertainment options.

Fairfax County has one of the largest concentrations of retail shopping on the East Coast. Tyson's Corner Center and Tyson's Galleria contain such stores as Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord and Taylor, and Nordstrom as well as hundreds of upscale boutiques, specialty shops and restaurants. Fairfax Square features such name stores as Tiffany & Co., Hermes, Gucci and Fendi.
