Primary Assignment

Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will develop heavy oil processing technology or recovery technology.

Examples of Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare a portfolio of promising technology options through literature review and brain-storming sessions

  • Using technical and economic success criteria, select the most promising technology option for further research and development

  • Perform laboratory and field tests to demonstrate the technical viability of the selected option

  • Develop numerical simulations of reservoir performance based upon laboratory and field data

  • Incorporate inputs from business unit customers and other scientists from within and outside the organization

  • Secure management endorsement at different stages of the project

  • Deliver a commercial-ready technology within budget and time

Qualifications Desired

Academic
Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum & Mechanical preferred), Geomechanics or related science

Other

  • A strong understanding of porous media flow, thermodynamics and heat transfer, kinetics, physical and chemical properties of hydrocarbons including bitumen, bitumen upgrading, phase separation and compatibility of processed bitumen fractions would be an asset

  • A track record of innovative thinking, publications and solutions

  • Ability to interact effectively in a multi-disciplinary team

  • Knowledge of process and/or reservoir simulation computer programs

  • Strong experimental experience

  • Written and oral communication skills
