If assigned to one of these positions, you will forecast, analyze, and report financial results for ExxonMobil's global oil and gas or chemicals/refining operations. You will learn about the business, gain insight into ExxonMobil's financial processes, utilize your analytical and communications abilities, and fine-tune management presentation skills. Special projects may include competitor analysis, design and implementation of new financial reporting standards or participation in the development of global enterprise systems.
Business Analysis
In these positions, you will forecast, analyze, and report on profitability, operating expenses and capital expenditures for one of ExxonMobil's operational units. Your assignments may include participation in business decisions, long range forecasts or strategic planning. You will gain "hands-on" experience working at an ExxonMobil manufacturing facility or as part of a business operations team
Internal Audit
These positions allow individuals to work on teams evaluating financial and operating control procedures for ExxonMobil's business processes and units, suppliers and venture partners. In general, audit assignments offer accelerated learning opportunities to develop a broad understanding of the various aspects of ExxonMobil's global business.
For example, while auditing the Baton Rouge Refinery, an auditor may work closely with plant personnel to evaluate product measurement procedures. Auditors apply sample testing to determine whether product measurements meet industry standards and comply with company guidelines. Upon completion of fieldwork testing, the audit team issues a final report to senior management assessing operations compliance with internal policies and procedures and recommending business process improvements. Operations Accounting & Analysis In these positions you will apply accounting principles to properly record business events and develop efficient processes integrated with the business units to provide useful and timely management information. For example, Revenue Analysts in Americas Production Controller's allocate and record ExxonMobil's production and revenue to all parties with interests in the company operated and 'operated by others' properties. Analysis of period-to-period variations ensures the accuracy of recorded data. In addition, the analysts maintain interfaces with operations personnel and joint interest partners, as well as prepare various local & federal regulatory and tax reports.
