Primary Assignment

As a Property / Title Analyst, you will be part of a team responsible for ensuring ExxonMobil's compliance with contractual, regulatory, and statutory requirements under thousands of agreements governing the production of oil and gas, and representing a gross investment in the billions of dollars.

The challenge of this position is enhanced by the risk of serious consequences for errors, including the loss of company assets, litigation, and competitive disadvantage. Day-to-day responsibilities could involve land title issue resolution (e.g., payment of production royalties to the proper parties) agreement interpretation (e.g., determination of ExxonMobil's obligations to other companies) or advice given to operating personnel to protect company assets when an oil or gas well ceases to produce.

Under the guidance of a mentor, you can expect the opportunity to develop capabilities in all facets of the property / title function and a detailed understanding of ExxonMobil's exploration, development, and production operations. In Property / Title Analysis, you will work in a collegial atmosphere where teamwork, diversity, and excellence are highly valued.

Examples of Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Advise operating personnel as to the maintenance of the Company's interests when oil and/or gas wells cease to produce and as to potential requirements when new wells are being drilled.

  • Analyze oil and gas agreements (e.g., mineral lease, assignment, trade, joint operating, division order, right-of-way) and property title documents (e.g., deeds, wills, trusts).

  • Ensure proper set up and maintenance of royalty and working interest ownership records.

  • Update systems to reflect key operational changes, including new or revised marketing arrangements, operator changes, or property ownership changes.

  • Maintain current understanding of laws and regulations affecting oil, gas and mineral rights and property ownership in all jurisdictions where the Company operates.

  • Establish controls to ensure the Company's compliance with agreement obligations.

Qualifications Desired

Academic
Doctor of Jurisprudence with Business, Liberal Arts, or Petroleum Engineering undergraduate degree.

Other
Position requires highly developed analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Location in Houston.
