Drilling Engineer

Your Assignment

As Drilling Engineer you will plan and design oil and gas wells in support of the Drilling Organization's role to conduct all worldwide oil and gas well drilling with an emphasis on safety, cost and efficiency improvement. You will have the opportunity to travel domestically and internationally to inland and offshore well site locations. You will work in a team environment and with diverse cultures. On-the-job mentorship as well as both informal and formal classroom training will be provided on the theories, principles and practices of drilling.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a Drill Team with engineering staff and materials and contracting personnel to implement the well design
  • Monitor the actual drilling phase of the well with emphasis on cost and efficiency tracking
  • Provide engineered solutions to problems, which arise in real time
  • Travel occasionally (10-15%) to well sites to work with operations personnel and to monitor work being conducted

Your Background

Academic
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Materials, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering.

Other

Valid Driver License and safe driving record; ability to interact effectively in a diverse team environment; ability to effectively communicate technical data.

Drilling Supervisor

Your Assignment

As Drilling Supervisor you will direct well site operations at the well location in support of the Drilling Organization's role to conduct all worldwide oil and gas well drilling with an emphasis on safety, cost and efficiency improvement. You will have the opportunity to travel domestically and internationally to both inland and offshore well site locations. Your work schedule is rotational; that is, you will work onsite from one to four weeks, then will be off for a corresponding amount time. You will work in a team environment and diverse cultures. On-the-job mentorship as well as formal classroom training will be provided on theories and principles of drilling. Your position is designated safety sensitive and is subject to drug and alcohol testing as required by ExxonMobil's Alcohol and Drug Program.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a Drill Team with engineering staff and materials and contracting personnel to implement the well design
  • Analyze and communicate ongoing well-related performance and events and participate in Drill Team efforts to correct and improve performance
  • Organize and prioritize well site activities
  • Travel to well sites to supervise work being conducted

Your Background

Academic

Bachelor's or Associate's (with significant oilfield experience) degree in Civil, Construction, Construction Management, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering and basic knowledge of math and science (i.e. technical knowledge of hydraulics, fluid flow, fluid mechanics, mechanical design and materials engineering)
  • Problem-solving skills, analytical ability and mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
