Education

education

It is ExxonMobil's longstanding belief that education is the key to progress, development and economic growth, and we are committed to being a responsible partner in the communities where we operate.

One of our primary goals is to support basic education and literacy programs in the developing world, and in areas of the world where basic education levels have been met, we support education programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Math and Science

ExxonMobil recognizes the essential role that proficiency in math and science plays in the energy business, and in facilitating human progress more generally.

Our global education initiative, Educating Women & Girls, strives to provide and improve educational and training opportunities for women and girls in the developing countries where we live and work.

ExxonMobil supports a wide variety of higher education programs that encourage students — particularly minorities and women — to pursue math and science-related degrees.

Each summer, ExxonMobil sponsors the Green Team youth employment program. This program places students in environmental, beautification and construction projects at public parks and economically depressed neighborhoods throughout the United States.

The ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program provides college students with an eight-week paid summer internship at a wide range of non-profit community organizations, and encourages non-profit service among students who may one day be the community leaders of the future.

ExxonMobil has a long history of supporting programs that improve the teaching and learning of mathematics and science from pre-school through higher education in regions around the world. Our strategic math and science programs range from student initiatives and teacher support to the encouragement of women and minorities.
