Dr. Elizabeth Turner appointed to NCA Board of Directors
ExxonMobil is proud to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Turner, our Global Wax Customer Technical Advisor, will be joining the Board of Directors for the National Candle Association (NCA). This milestone is a well-deserved recognition of her professional accomplishments, her expertise and her role as a thought leader in the waxes industry.
A graduate of St. Mary’s University with a PhD in Chemistry from Western University, Dr. Turner is an 18-year-veteran of ExxonMobil. She began her career at the company as a lead research chemist and fuel quality specialist, before assuming her current role in 2023 as the global advisor for wax technology; guiding the wax business in articulating technical value. As the Global Wax Technical Advisor, Dr. Turner has become a prominent voice for the industry on such topics as wax quality and purity. She is a respected figure who has represented ExxonMobil at industry events around the world, including the European Candle Makers Association, the World Candle Congress and other forums.
The NCA was founded in 1974 and is the largest American trade organization for candles. It furthers product safety, public awareness, technological advancement and other issues of importance for the industry. Dr. Turner looks to play a critical role in strengthening the association’s core priorities, while helping to guide the NCA towards greater innovation and influence in its mission-driven strategies. She will serve an important role as NCA ambassador to stakeholders and the candle industry at large, while bringing industry concerns and perspectives back to NCA leadership.
“I am ecstatic to welcome Liz Turner to NCA as a board member,” said Steve Horenziak, President of the National Candle Association. “She will provide pertinent and timely insight on the candle industry landscape that drives decision-making and innovation for the industry.”
Beyond her service on the board, Dr. Turner has also joined NCA’s Communications Committee, where she will have the opportunity to work closely with peers, generate ideas and help deliver tangible outcomes that advance NCA’s strategic framework. This dual role will allow her to connect more deeply with members, identify emerging issues and strengthen collaboration between the board and committees.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized by the NCA,” said Dr. Turner. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board of Directors in promoting the mission of the National Candle Association, particularly in leveraging my scientific background to foster technical advancement for the candle industry.”
