Media outlets report on ExxonMobil’s plan to expand Group III production at Baytown
In August 2025, we announced plans to expand our Baytown, Texas facility to include Group III base stock production, marking a significant milestone in our ability to support evolving customer needs across North America. With this future capacity, we expect to become the only supplier offering a full slate of Group I through Group V base stocks.
The expansion brings 4 and 6 cSt at 100°C base stocks to the North America market, supported by production capacity of approximately 8,000 barrels per day.
F+L Asia reported on the milestone, highlighting the introduction of Group III base stocks into the North American market. BaseOilNews featured insights from Laura Pottorf, Global Marketing Manager of ExxonMobil Basestocks & Waxes, who emphasized our commitment to offering a comprehensive range of base stocks that cater to the evolving needs of the market. Hydrocarbon Processing also noted the Baytown expansion alongside our broader global investments, including the Singapore Resid Upgrade Project and the introduction of Group II production at the Rotterdam refinery.
This milestone reinforces our long-term strategy to deliver a broad range of base stocks, reliably, consistently and at scale.
