Q4 2018: ExxonMobil ships first Group II base stocks from Rotterdam refinery
A $1 billion hydrocracker expansion has enabled Europe’s first world-scale Group II production. The project increases regional supply reliability, boosts ultra-low sulfur diesel output, and improves refinery energy efficiency by 5%. This establishes ExxonMobil as the only producer of both Group I and II base stocks with major assets across the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, supported by new distribution hubs in Spain and Germany.
Q1 2019: Rotterdam expansion enters final stage
Final measures for Q1 2019 commercialization include launching advanced lab facilities, securing ISO 9001:2015 pre-certification, and deploying a proprietary Brand & Product Integrity Management System. These rigorous quality controls ensure industry-leading reliability and officially position ExxonMobil as the world’s largest producer of Group I and II base stocks.
