The carrier currently uses Mobil Jet Oil 387 across its entire fleet
Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines is the world's most awarded carrier and operates a young aircraft fleet in the aviation industry, which includes a range of Airbus and Boeing wide-body aircraft, powered by some of the most advanced and popular engine technologies, including numerous Rolls-Royce Trent and General Electric’s GE90 variants.
ExxonMobil Aviation has been a partner to Singapore Airlines since the carrier’s inauguration, working with the airline for over 50 years.
Made to deliver optimal engine performance
Designed to meet requirements of modern engines, Mobil Jet™ Oil 387 features custom-made esters and unique additives that help deliver a combination of benefits that have never before been achieved with an HTS/HPC turbine oil. It is designed to be gentle on seals while still performing well under high thermal stress, which keeps engines running cleaner and increases component life.
Approved for use in a wide range of engines and components, Mobil Jet Oil 387 meets demanding industry specifications, including SAE AS5780 High Performance Capability and US Military Specification MIL-PRF-23699-HTS.
Making the transition
Upon conducting an internal evaluation, Singapore Airlines found that Mobil Jet Oil 387 not only met the needs of their wide-body fleet, but that they would benefit from the upgrade. As a result, Singapore Airlines and ExxonMobil Aviation worked closely to deliver a smooth transition for the entire wide-body fleet in 2018.
“MJO 387 has proven very reliable, and ExxonMobil has been very proactive in gathering feedback on product performance with regular engagement and follow-up,” says Puay Hwee Tan, Singapore Airlines Senior Powerplant Manager Technical Services. “Since switching, we have had no oil-related issues typically associated with elevated oil temperatures. ExxonMobil has been proactive in gathering feedback on product performance. They provide regular engagement, and follow-up action is taken seriously.”
In the years since the conversion, Mobil Jet Oil 387 has been serving Singapore Airlines’ fleet well, and the carrier’s relationship with ExxonMobil remains strong.
