The best way to determine a lubricant's effectiveness is to simply look inside the engine. When a team of ExxonMobil experts conducted a full engine inspection of a Cummins KTA38 marine diesel engine that used Mobil Delvac 1™ ESP 5W-40 engine oil, the results spoke for themselves:
- Demonstrated excellent protection and cleanliness
- Significant lack of wear on common wear components, such as piston skirts, piston wrist pins, crankshaft and gears
- Oil drain intervals safely extended to 3,000 hours, over 10 times longer than engine builder's recommendation, while maintaining OEM recommended filter change intervals
All of this was achieved after 21,782 running hours, with an initial fill of Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40 engine oil.
