The marine industry is at a crossroads. The impending 0.5 per cent global sulphur cap is expected to have profound implications for the economics of shipping and pose tough challenges for buyers and refiners by 2020 or 2025.

At this year’s SMM in Hamburg, ExxonMobil will be leading the discussion and providing its technical insight on the global sulphur cap debate during a roundtable in partnership with IHS Fairplay.

Industry figures, including international shipping industry company Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and marine consultancy Brookes Bell, will be in attendance. A key topic for discussion will be the impact of the global sulphur cap on the industry and the potential solutions that will help to ensure compliance.

ExxonMobil will also be part of the LNG conversation during the ‘Green Propulsion – is LNG the answer?’ panel on Tuesday 6th September. Global Marketing Manager, Iain White, will explore the potential of LNG in addressing strict environmental regulation and its place in the fuel mix.
