ExxonMobil aviation secures Rolls-Royce approvals for Mobil Jet Oil 387, a synthetic, High Performance Capability (HPC) turbine oil

Rolls-Royce approves Mobil Jet Oil 387 for use in its Trent 1000, Trent 900 and Trent XWB engines

  • ExxonMobil aviation’s most advanced synthetic turbine engine oil for use in advanced commercial, civil and military engines
  • Outstanding performance results documented in extensive ground testing and in-flight service

ExxonMobil aviation’s Mobil Jet Oil 387, a synthetic HPC* turbine engine oil, has secured Rolls-Royce’s approval for use in Rolls-Royce’s Trent 1000, Trent 900 and Trent XWB engines.

These Rolls-Royce aircraft engine technologies are used to power some of today’s most advanced aircraft, including Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and Airbus’ A380 and A350.

“As a company that helped pioneer synthetic lubrication technology, we have a long legacy of working side-by-side with Rolls-Royce to deliver lubricants that enable operators to enhance fleet performance for the long haul,” said Frans Horjus, global aviation lubricants sales manager, ExxonMobil fuels & lubricants. “Since these Rolls-Royce engine technologies are used to help power some of the most advanced aircraft ever developed, it is only fitting that Mobil Jet Oil 387 , the most advanced synthetic turbine oil we have ever developed, is approved for use in these engines.”

Approved against some of the most demanding industry specifications, including SAE AS5780 HPC and US Military Specification MIL-PRF-23699-HTS, Mobil Jet Oil 387 lubricant is suitable for a wide range of civil, commercial and military aviation applications.

It is formulated to deliver exceptional component protection for numerous engine technologies, ranging from today’s most advanced jet engines to single engine turboshaft helicopters.

The performance of Mobil Jet Oil 387 oil has been documented in extensive testing, spanning thousands of hours of in-flight testing and ground service, conducted in partnership with a number of major airlines.

Test results have consistently demonstrated that Mobil Jet Oil 387 offers a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Outstanding deposit control
  • Exceptional seal compatibility
  • Advanced wear protection
  • Excellent oxidative stability
  • Excellent low-temperature fluidity

*About High Performance Capability (HPC) Oils: The High Performance Capability (HPC) classification represents the highest aviation industry standard category for aviation turbine engine oils. To meet the HPC classification, oils must deliver exceptional overall performance, high levels of oxidation resistance and outstanding deposit control. Mobil Jet™ Oil 387 is certified as a true HPC oil.
