Mobilgard™ 540 delivers excellent engine cleanliness, whilst supporting IMO 2020 compliance for K-ENE

With the IMO 2020 sulphur cap now reaching the end of its first year, vessel operators need to ensure that they uphold their standards of efficiency, whilst maintaining compliance with the IMO’s regulations.

In order to maintain reliable operation of their vessels to low-sulphur fuel, ”K” Line Energy Ship Management (K-ENE) worked with ExxonMobil to switch their tanker Tonegawa to Mobilgard™ 540 cylinder oil.

The benefits of this change included:

  • Continued safe and efficient operation of the vessel’s engine
  • No increase in deposit build-up on pistons
  • Five percent reduction in cylinder oil feed rate
  • Up-to-date engine insights from Mobil Serv℠ Cylinder Condition Monitoring
  • Peace of mind to transition to a low-sulphur fuel
